Team Wolo 💛
Fler Wright
Co-Founder/Chief Everything Officer
After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018, I quickly realised how little support existed for families like ours. That moment became the starting point for Wolo — and since then, it’s been shaped and grown by a passionate team of people who care deeply about the families we support.
In a small charity, roles don’t stay in neat boxes — and I love that. From supporting families and leading fundraising; to shaping strategy and creating events, I’m involved in a bit of everything.
At the heart of it all is people. I love bringing others together, building genuine connections, and adding a bit of sparkle, colour, and warmth wherever I go — even in the toughest moments. I’m a glass-half-full, positive-energy kind of girl, and I try to bring that optimism into everything I do.
I’m known for making things happen (occasionally at the last minute… hence “Last Minute Linda”), saying yes to ideas, being a big dog lover, and always saying yes to cake.
My focus is on ensuring Wolo can continue to support families in a sustainable, meaningful way for years to come. I’m also always happy to speak or share our story — so please do get in touch!
Sam Aiken
Family Liaison + Wellbeing Lead
As Wellness and Family Liaison, I am passionate about supporting families affected by cancer, both during and after a diagnosis. My work is deeply personal, as my own experience with cancer has given me first-hand insight into the emotional, physical, and practical challenges that families face. It is this lived experience that shapes my approach, allowing me to offer not only professional support, but genuine empathy, understanding, and connection.
I know how overwhelming this journey can be, and I’m here to help families navigate it with care, compassion, and reassurance. My aim is to ensure that every interaction with Wolo is a supportive, uplifting experience, helping families move forward with a sense of hope and positivity.
Through Wolo’s wellness programme, I design and coordinate activities that support the mind, body, and soul. From yoga and movement classes to cooking sessions, children’s bushcraft, Zoom cook-alongs, and inspiring talks with experts, from mental health professionals to menopause specialists and soul midwives, my goal is to provide holistic, tailored support that meets each person’s needs. One-to-one therapies are also available, ensuring that every individual feels seen, supported, and empowered on their journey.
You’ll often find me out and about at Wolo events or connecting by phone and email. My mission is simple: to help families feel supported, uplifted, and equipped to face whatever comes next with resilience and hope.
Samantha Pond
Fundraising + Relationship Lead
Joining Wolo as Fundraising & Relationship Lead feels a little like serendipity. For the past four years, Wolo was a client of mine, and throughout that time, I felt genuinely drawn to the charity, admiring the incredible work they do to support families affected by cancer in Sussex. Now, I’m thrilled to be part of the team.
In my role, I’ll be focusing on organising events, developing business partnerships, and using my corporate experience to help put strong, sustainable processes in place as the charity continues to grow. I’m especially passionate about using my relationship-building skills to bring in new donors and supporters, people and businesses who want to make a real impact where it matters most.
With a background in events and frequent involvement in charitable fundraising (until now, mostly as a volunteer), this role is a perfect blend of everything I love. Outside of work, I’m a yoga teacher and passionate about mental health, stillness, meditation, and living a healthy, nourishing lifestyle. I also share life with my 6-year-old French bulldog, who is not only my sidekick but also a unique performer, known for his window-surfing skills and howling duets to Whitney Houston classics. Yes, he takes requests (as long as I sing with him).
You can find me at Wolo events or connect with me on social media, I’d love to hear from you!
Hannah Thomas
Accounts Manager
I’m the Finance Manager for Wolo, and I feel genuinely lucky to be part of such a passionate team and a worthy cause. Wolo’s ethos really resonates with me. Like so many people, I know how cancer can touch families, and being able to play a small part in supporting them is something I really value.
Before joining, I worked across different businesses, but I always knew I wanted to use my finance skills in a more meaningful, impact-driven way. In my role, I help keep things running smoothly behind the scenes - managing budgets, making sure funds are used where they’re needed most, and helping the team stay on track so it can continue its incredible work.
Outside of work, life is busy with my family and our cockapoo, and we love being by the sea or in the mountains. We enjoy making memories together, especially if it involves a bit of adrenaline and adventure, which fits well with the charity’s “We Only Live Once” spirit. I’m always up for a challenge, whether that’s at work or in life!

Claire Hermon
Trustee
I'm Claire and I am truly honoured to take up the role of trustee with WOLO, to join an incredible team that are inspirational in their commitment to supporting families affected by cancer and I am excited to be part of the journey in continuing to support the charity in its continued growth. I am a very proud mum to four fabulous children, I have been married to my husband Jon for 13 years and we live In Eastbourne.
We are a really busy family and we firmly live by the ethos of 'We Only Live Once' but I also believe that in the midst of our own busy lives it is so important that we make the time to help and support others and I am delighted to be able to do this for Wolo, a charity that I wholeheartedly believe in. In the past year I have gained a new found enjoyment for exercise classes and in June I was very proud to achieve a 26 mile hike across the South Downs which was a massive challenge for me.
I hope this will be a springboard for lots of other challenges in raising money and awareness for Wolo in the future. I enjoy reading and I have recently joined a book club (code name for a catch up with friends!), I enjoy most things crafty, baking and eating cakes; If there is warm cake in the kitchen I can't walk past without taking another slice! I have worked with children and families as a Social Worker for 15 years and I currently work locally in a team that supports unaccompanied children and young people that have come to the UK to seek refuge and claim asylum.
It is a challenging but rewarding job and I hope that some of the skills and knowledge that I have developed over the years can be put to good use by Wolo.
Adam Whisker
Chair of Trustees
My name is Adam and I joined Wolo as a trustee in March 2023. I am delighted to be part of Wolo and to help continue the important work for those families affected by cancer. I have two children aged 13 and 16 and now that they don't want to have anything to do with me I have more time to give something back to the local community. I first heard of Wolo when Justin and Marcus came to do a presentation at my work - I was really inspired to hear about their personal journeys and the care and support they provide to others. In particular they highlighted the importance of getting people talking (particularly men!) and how you don't have to battle this disease alone. I have seen first hand the impact cancer can have on families and therefore I understand the important role Wolo can play whether it is providing practical support or dealing with financial hardship. I look forward to working with the other trustees, volunteers and employees and to help Wolo grow and thrive into the future.
Stuart Maclean
Trustee + Treasurer
I’m truly honoured to have been asked to be part of the Wolo team and came on board as a voluntary trustee back in March 2023.
I'm proud to be married to Kerry and a father of two amazing boys, Alex 18, and Joe 17, both of them football mad and whilst we’re on mad I shouldn't forget to mention our cocker spaniel Oscar!
I’ve seen at close hand the amazing work that the Wolo Foundation has done and the effect it has on the families they help. It is incredibly humbling to see the sheer dedication and passion of this amazing team and I’m so proud to be a small part of the Wolo family.
Any part we can play, no matter how small makes a difference to families that are suffering. Come along to an event....get involved....We only live once!
Justin Bricknell
Trustee
I’m Justin and I joined Wolo as a Trustee in October 2025.
I was first introduced to Wolo by my wife, whose business had nominated them as their chose charity in 2024. Having attended several events and hearing the testimonies of those affected by cancer and the difference Wolo had made, I wanted to help in some capacity. As I learnt more about what the Trustee role entails, and how much passion & commitment there was from the existing team, I realised that this was something I’d love to get involved in.
Calling on over 25 years of experience working in both the public and private sectors, I’ve dealt with many aspects of corporate governance, resource & budget management. I believe those skills will be invaluable in ensuring Wolo is effectively governed, compliant with regulations, and sticks to its core principles, as it continues to grow.
Away from Wolo, I am an IT Manager for a hotel chain and spend my working time between London, Amsterdam and Rome. I have two children (now adults!) and a wonderful wife with whom I love to spend time in the great outdoors. I’m also a Brighton and Hove Albion season ticket holder.

Hi, I’m Sue, I am so grateful to have the opportunity to join Wolo team. I have known Fler and Justin for a long time, and Wolo has become close to my heart. I have two daughters; one is in University and one is in sixth form, a wonderful husband and two dogs, Alfie and Ivy. They have all helped me through my journey and inspired me to help others. I have always been involved with the community from working at a local bank and nursery. Through this, I have been lucky enough to support people in many ways. The Wolo team are excellent at their work, and their guidance and knowledge have assisted my journey. Wolo made me realise that we genuinely do Only Live Once, and life is too short not to live each day as it comes. I hope to pass some support on to others by being an ambassador.
Darren Evans
Running Ambassador
Hi, I’m Darren and I support Wolo Foundation.
At first I didn’t get what Wolo was all about. Then it hit me. Like a bolt of lightning I realised what it was, and what Justin and Fler do. That was it. I was hooked.
I had planned to retire from a career of 36 years in retail and wanted to leave with a bang. I decided to run and cycle between all the stores I had worked in as a store Manager. That’s when AsdaLaVistaBaby was born. I completed an 85 mile bike ride and a 21 mile run and raised some money for Wolo.
Since that time, and understanding more of what they do, I tell everyone about them. It’s also an added bonus that we have become good friends during this time.
I love what they do, who they are and what they stand for.
I will always raise awareness of Wolo no matter what happens, because above all else I believe in the gift of helping others and that we all need to make every second count.
At the end of the day........We Only Live Once.

Jane Evans
Ambassador
Hi, I’m Jane, wife to Darren and proud mummy to our son Alfie.
I grew up in Seaford and love where we live. I enjoy exercising and keeping my mind and body fit and healthy. As a family we love the great outdoors and enjoy camping in our VW Camper, enjoying the simpler things in life.
I have known Fler for many years and am a huge supporter of the community that her and Justin have created with WOLO.
I was an HR Manager for years and have a real passion for helping people. I suffered with my mental well-being following the birth of Alfie and it was this journey that led me to re-train as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist. I help people make positive and significant changes in their life using practical, modern and well researched techniques, learning to think about their life in a positive way enabling them to cope better and regain control.
I genuinely love what I do. I am so incredibly grateful that I am able to help people move forward in their life and become better versions of themselves, it makes my heart sing.
I have the absolute pleasure of working with WOLO and being a part of peoples journey of helping them through either active treatment, helping them to cope with changes in their life, helping a partner or family member cope on a daily basis as they support a partner or navigate their own emotions or helping someone with loss and the journey that takes them on.
I will always wholeheartedly support and raise awareness of WOLO, after all, we only live once.
