Helping families affected by cancer in Sussex

Wolo Wellness Programme

A 6 week course, starting with a 3 day residential retreat.

Wolo want to inspire YOU to habitually prioritise self-care, to ensure you are surviving, thriving and living your best life!

The Wolo Wellbeing Programme is 6 weeks of transformational learning, helping you to feel your body, free your mind and live your best live everyday!

You experience everything, your whole world, in and with your body. Even in the toughest of times, when facing seemingly insurmountable challenges, we can choose calm, ease and focus. We Only Live Once. To live our best lives every day and be there for those who need us, we can learn to surrender to each moment; feeling, thinking and acting as is needed in that moment. For us and those around us.

We often can’t change the circumstances we find ourselves in, but by learning to achieve calm, we can change the degree to which we suffer a challenging situation.

The Wolo Wellbeing Programme is designed to help you build a foundation of calm and sets a base for a healthy mind and body.  The focus is on experience, connection and release; letting go of all that does not serve you and making place for what does.

Having time, silence and techniques to be with my body and mind in a calm safe way has opened up my world to some healing and living in the present rather then fearing the threat of reoccurrence of cancer in the future. Thank you WOLO.’

Wellness Delivery Team

Will Van Zyl

With more than 25 years of working with people; as a transformation leader and coach in various organisations and as a bodyworker and wellbeing facilitator for thousands of people on a journey of self improvement and mastery.

I have studied, experienced, practiced and taught these techniques for decades. As I know and my clients will attest...they work!

So I decided to take them further and make them available to more.

Marcos Jarvis

In 2019, Marcos Jarvis was told he had 3 months to live. He was diagnosed with stage 4 advanced, incurable cancer, which had spread to his liver.

After 35 rounds of chemotherapy and a complete lifestyle change, he was given the all clear by Christmas 2021.

Marcos is currently training to become a Wim Hof instructor and also works for Wolo Foundation, a Sussex-based cancer charity.

Wolo stands for ‘We Only Live Once’ and supported Marcos and his family through their cancer journey.

Sam Aiken

Although not qualified in the mental health profession, my experiences over the last few years has helped me gain a real understanding on how to support and be supported.

Having had Cancer myself in 2019, I decided that at that time that life was to short to work day in day out and not feel whole and complete, so I took the plunge and cut my hours as an accountant, and started on this journey with WOLO setting up the Wellness program, it has been one of fulfilment and I very much look forward to developing the program further, learning along the way, helping others find peace within and the ability to live life to the full with tools to guide them through all walks of life.

History of demonstrating strong sales leadership and vendor management skills and accredited professional mental health practitioner bringing a wealth of employee wellbeing knowledge and understanding.

Then in the comfort of your own home, you will be guided through 6 weeks of practice online.  This will give you the opportunity to build the habits that will embed the practice into your daily life, setting up each day to be the best it can be.

‘Benefitted in so many ways. Through connection with others, story sharing, idea sharing. Great tools learnt and the ability to let go of some trauma. Also super nice to be so well looked after in a beautiful place with beautiful food and kind people.’
— Course participant

At the end of the program there is a final gathering, an opportunity to reconnect, reflect and refine your practice.

‘I feel so relaxed and peaceful. The retreat gave me the tools to deal with stress and quieten my mind.’
— Course participant

‘I went into the course feeling a little deflated and low in motivation following 5 months of chemotherapy. The course helped me to refocus, taught me new skills around breathwork and mindfulness, as well as introduce me to a new and very supportive community of people. It also helped me form new habits around journalling, reinvigorated my motivation to approach my next chemotherapy treatment with different focus. I have much more stillness and focus now to stay healthy and exercise throughout my coming treatment. I can recommend the course to anyone affected by cancer who would like to find new skills for coping and living well on this journey.’

Over the 6 week programme together we will embrace the following:

  • Mindset and perspective

  • Movement to regulate stress, energy and confidence

  • Breathwork for mindset, calm focus and balance

  • Awareness building and authentic action

  • How I want my life to be…Embodied Life

  • Visioning Structured, reflective practices

It was more than I could ever imagine. I was supported, loved, challenged, heard, held and invigorated. Space was created to look at my needs and wants and reassess my life and I will be forever grateful for that. Thank you beyond words. This has changed my life. I would suggest it to literally anyone. The support from my peers was exceptional but the leaders were out of this world.
— Course participant

‘I really enjoyed the course. Loved the venue, the food, the company, the techniques we learned and the space for ‘me’. I will continue to use the tools throughout my life so they have been very beneficial. I also feel a strong sense of belonging within the cohort. Thank you so for this unique opportunity!’
