I wanted to bring you all to my special place... I have been coming here since my wife’s cancer diagnosis. Today I needed somewhere to be on my own (+ Daisy the dog!) to think and clear my head as have been finding life tough lately.
None of us dads are at our best through this never-ending journey. Even at work, no magical switch shuts off the immense stress and worry we feel about our family. It’s hard to focus; You come to work with the added stress of knowing you’re unintentionally not performing to your potential. That comes with a lot of guilt. We all must invest in our health. Just going for a walk or run, or just being outdoors with nature helps the mind. You must look after yourself as well as others.
Hopefully the trek in the Himalayas in a few weeks will be an amazing experience for me. Spending time on my own will help me with my own mind for sure... I’ll will be doing regular updates and vlogs that you can all have a laugh at...

Justin Wright from the WOLO Foundation has made no secret of the fact his wife’s cancer diagnosis has changed him. With his wife now a ‘survivor’, and life getting back to ‘normal’ he feels ready to take a break from routine and go on an adventure. The self-funded 10 day opportunity departs this November: a Himalayan mountain trek climb to the world famous Everest View hotel, culminating in the first ever Sherpa-led mountain retreat - and is part of “The Inspiration Programme’.
TIP is an international adventure, personal development and conservation programme providing opportunity for busy individuals to journey to majestic and remote wild places, in order to discover a less driven and a more reflective, natural and fruitful life.
Justin will be joining forces with a group of other adventurers including former Royal Marine Commando and Special Forces Officer Neil Laughton; who climbed the mountain with Bear Grylls; and John Richards; Author of ‘Awareness, Change, Relationships and Fruitfulness, both directors of TIP.
Justin says, “I met and worked with John Richards after my wife’s cancer diagnosis. John helped move me forward and has taught me skills and self belief/care that makes me feel humble and brave enough to deal with anything that life throws at me. It’s a once in a life time experience - a unique 10 Day trek in the Himalayas in November 2019. I’m very much looking forward to the trek and hope to use the adventure to raise awareness and much-needed funds for WOLO Foundation - a charity my wife and I have set to help families through cancer. His wife Fler Wright supports him 100%, and feels the trip will be a fantastic opportunity for his personal development. Turning our cancer experience into a positive will help so many other families. WOLO are proud to be supporting Alfriston Preschool with their Alfriston Fun Run this year on Saturday 28th September. We thought it’d be great to get a little WOLO team together - are there any budding little runners out there that fancy joining us? There’s a 1k race (all flat) for little ones to conquer - and they get a medal at the end (and if they’re anything like our kids, they’ll do ANYTHING for a medal).
For those that fancy a challenge, there’s also a 5k and a 10k on offer. It’s £5 to enter the fun (this goes directly to the pre-school - £10 for the longer runs) and if you could raise a few pennies in sponsorship money for WOLO too that would be amazing!! All ages are welcome to enter! Wear yellow to show your support, or buy a WOLO top to really spread the love! (link below)

An Eastbourne Big Brother winner managed Celeb FC at a charity football tournament and helped raise £2,500 for charity.
Jason Burrill managed Celeb FC at the tournament, held at Seaford Town Football Club on September 1, and the money raised will be split between four different charities.
The charities include the Rainy Day Trust, Teenage Cancer Trust, Variety – the children’s charity and local Sussex WOLO charity – who help local families affected by cancer.
Sue McKinney of Chandlers Building Supplies, the company that organised and ran the event, said, “A big thank you goes to each of the 10 football teams that took part and to the amazing team at Seaford Town FC who hosted the day.
“It’s great the hard work has been rewarded with such a healthy sum. We look forward to distributing this among the charities.”
Celeb FC had famous faces playing for them such as ITV presenter Rob Lamarr,Paul Shelock, Dean McAteer, The Apprentice 2017 contestant Danny Grant and Brighton and Hove Albion legends Gary Hart and Kerry Mayo.
Celeb FC won the winner’s trophy out of a possible 10 other teams.
Among the other teams participating were the Lookalike Team who had famous faces similar to those of Mrs. Brown, Simon Cowell, David Beckham, Robbie Williams, Prince Harry and Marilyn Monroe.
Cancer survivor, Fler Wright of WOLO (We Only Live Once) charity, said, “We were thrilled to be part of such a fantastic event. Not only will the funds be very helpful but it was also a great platform for WOLO to raise its profile and communicate our charitable goals locally.”
Other teams that played in the tournament included two Chandlers Building Supplies teams from Lewes and Petworth, two Seaford Town FC Veterans teams and Newhaven ladies veterans team HRT UTD.
