"So what do you actually do?"
Last month, WOLO had the opportunity to share our mission and inspire others at Elekta. We often get asked, "So what do you actually do?" Well, over the past 3 years, we've made incredible strides. What began as an idea following a personal cancer diagnosis has now blossomed into a charity serving the entire Sussex region, providing support to over 140 families and 300 children.
At Wolo, we are dedicated to supporting families throughout their cancer journey. We understand that each family and each cancer is unique, so we tailor our approach to meet their specific needs. From emotional guidance to practical assistance with cleaning, childcare, will writing, and home maintenance, we're here to help in any way we can.
But our support goes beyond the practical. We believe in creating lasting memories and opportunities for families to bond and enjoy quality time together. Regular events, walks, talks, and experiences help foster a sense of community within Wolo, providing support on every level.
We also recognize the financial impact of a parent's inability to work due to cancer. In such cases, we step in to provide immediate assistance, whether it's purchasing essential items, medical equipment, or toys. Our ultimate goal is to enhance the quality of life for families during and after treatment.
Our work encompasses practical aid, health and well-being, and the development of enduring relationships. We want to empower individuals with cancer and their families to live their best lives. After all, life is short, and time spent with loved ones is precious. Let's make the most of it together!
We're proud to share that 100% of the families we've supported feel that Wolo has had a positive impact on their cancer journey and family life. In fact, 82% rated this impact as a perfect 10/10.
Through Wolo, families have the opportunity to improve their well-being, increase self-care, and boost their confidence. We also offer chances to create more precious memories, enhance family fun, and strengthen relationships. Our aspirations include reducing loneliness, providing greater support to individuals, and fostering new friendships.
There are numerous ways to get involved with Wolo, whether through volunteering, becoming a trustee, offering your services, or joining our exclusive Wolo 100 club. https://wolofoundation.org/wolo-100-club
