Support Local - Stronger together
Sam, our Sales Director with his Eastbourne RoundTable hat on met with WOLO Foundation this morning at FOUNDRY Space to donate £500 - The first of many they intend on donating over the next 12 months.
WOLO - When a family member receives a cancer diagnosis it is devastating for the whole family - physically, emotionally and financially. The co-founders of Wolo (We Only Live Once) learnt this firsthand as they navigated their own cancer journey and discovered how little support was out there beyond the basic clinical treatment. Their personal experience led to the founding of Wolo Foundation, which aims to improve the quality of life of families in Sussex following a cancer diagnosis.
Wolo supports the whole family, they recognise that it is not only the cancer patient who needs support, it affects everyone in the household.
They work closely with local businesses and communities to offer families a wealth of services to
support them, at what is a very stressful time. They provide emotional guidance, mental health support and practical help, e.g. child care, extensive health and wellbeing opportunities (for both adults and children), legal services such as will writing, respite breaks, social events, transport to hospital, home cleaners, equipment, medical aids, wellness courses and complementary therapies to ease the side effects of treatment - plus much more.
Currently supporting 154 families all over Sussex who desperately need our help, but this
number is growing all the time. Typically, being approached by one new family each week who has received a life-changing cancer diagnosis.
The support offered to a family costs on average, £1200 a year. A grant of £500 is going to help
fund:
-10 house cleans
-8 therapy sessions
-5 months of support for 1 family
-6 weeks of therapy for 2 children
Every family is unique and every cancer is different and they are proud of the bespoke support offered helping to meet the individual needs of each family and improve their quality of life on their cancer journeys.
They wouldn’t be able to continue our work without your help. Your funding will help us to make a huge difference to someone who is struggling with the daily challenges of living with cancer and having a family to support.
