Helping families affected by cancer in Sussex

new collaboration with Newhaven Gig Rowing Club - Sussex

We’re excited to launch our new collaboration with Newhaven Gig Rowing Club - Sussex

We are sure this will help not only families that have been affected by cancer but challenge those of you who just fancy giving it a try and creating a new #wolomoment - it could be a life changing one. They are a great community club (and a charity themselves). If you fancy giving it a go, then please get in touch.

We’re excited to become part of another local community and try something new, after all, we only live once! #wolo #weonlyliveonce #wolofoundation #local #newhaven #sussexbythesea #riverouse

117 mile round trip around Sussex this week

117 mile round trip around Sussex this week and meeting lots of the families we are supporting on their cancer journeys.

We are very keen to partner with inspiring businesses/people to help the economy - we will be adding a collab page onto our website and would love to include you if you’re up for it.

Just to clarify, we don’t expect to receive anything for free - we are happy to pay the going rate (although any reduction would help our funds to go further). These families really need our support - its wonderful to help them on their cancer journeys - for many it is a real lifeline. We dont just deliver weekly essentials boxes - we support families in practical ways through diagnosis, treatment and beyond. From physios sessions, to acupuncture, gardening, legal services or cleaning. Services are bespoke to every family. Nothing is too much trouble.

'Messages from the Sea' is now available to purchase.

'Messages from the Sea' is now available to purchase. All profits donated to @wolofoundation - to help families affected by cancer.

A beautifully crafted book by the amazing CreativeFlorence. Design, Illustration & Scribbles. Narrated by a Turtle who takes a journey around the world meeting sea animals in various seas and oceans (featuring Wolo the Whale). The sea animals leave messages asking for help about the pollution taking over their homes. The story is simple and positive and helps explain that by making changes, we can help save their homes from pollution by looking at our own behaviours with regard to recycling and plastic waste!

The book also has an alphabet theme which adds to the journey throughout the book. All the illustrations are created in mixed media. The design and layout has a fun conversational style. The words and images provide humour which will reach a varied age group. Flo is responsible for the whole creation of this first edition.

Why not buy it as a gift for your own children, or for those you haven't seen in a while?

We are passionate about our message, passionate about raising awareness. Helping families through cancer.

Our "super human"

Darren Evans is a superstar His determination and generosity has raised an incredible amount of awareness and money for Wolo Foundation. Mentioned on the official @asda page this morning! Whoop! Thank you SO much Darren and to everyone that has donated to help families in Sussex affected by cancer

Asda (Brighton Marina)

Our "super human" store manager Darren Evans successfully completing his challenge to cycle and run a total of 106 miles between the stores he has worked in around East Sussex - Crawley, St Leonards, Eastbourne, Brighton and Brighton Marina.

Darren, who is retiring after 36 years, was raising money and awareness for the WOLO Foundation, a charity which offers help and practical advice to families affected by cancer and Sport in Mind - the mental health sports charity that uses sport and physical activity to aid the recovery of people experiencing mental illness and combat suicide. Darren has set up a Just Giving Page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Darren-AsdaLavistaBaby. Everyone at Brighton Marina and the other stores would like to wish Darren and his family all the best for the future.

How🌟AMAZING🌟 is this?!! Couldn’t love this anymore!

Good morning everyone. Just an update on the fundraising for the #asdalavistababy challenge from Just Giving, Facebook and collection buckets for the WOLO Foundation

Total so far including grant and match funding from Asda and Gift Aid we have a total of £6,787.

Fundraising page closes on Sunday 9th August, so still time to donate or share it (if possible) as the awareness is as important as the funding.

The challenge is being aired on Seahaven FM between 2-5pm this afternoon.

Strava distances below. Leg 4 was on Janey’s phone as my battery died.

Thank you to everyone who has supported with donations and kind messages and especially my support team on the day.

I have to say I was overwhelmed by the support at the shops. Thank you so much.

Thank you also for the birthday messages. It’s been an emotional few days.

I feel great and I’m humbled by all the support you have given me.

I’ll do a final update next Sunday.

Thanks again.
