Each session builds on the last, guiding participants gently through the four pillars of the SIPS™ framework for ongoing healing and reconnection.

Take Back Your Power is a gentle, retreat-style workshop designed to help anyone affected by cancer — whether living with it, supporting someone, or caring for a loved one — reconnect with themselves, reduce fear and overwhelm, and begin to rebuild a sense of calm and control.

Drawing on her own experience of facing cancer three times, and her work as a trauma-informed coach and Touch Therapist, Sarah Hurst has created the Mind Medicine Movement™, a holistic framework built around her signature SIPS™ method:

  • S – Slow Down: Nervous system regulation, grounding, and breathwork

  • I – Identity: Reconnecting with self beyond the diagnosis

  • P – Purpose: Visualization and meaning-making for healing

  • S – Self-Love: Self-compassion, boundaries, and embodied self-care

This introductory session gives participants a taste of all four pillars and a foundation for ongoing healing. It is the first in a series of five workshops, followed by deeper sessions exploring each SIPS™ pillar in detail.

Together, the series offers a nurturing journey — helping participants move from fear to calm, from disconnection to presence, and from simply surviving to gently rising above cancer.

What to Expect

This workshop blends reflection, discussion, gentle movement, and relaxation practices. Participants will:

  • Learn how the brain and body respond to fear and how to restore calm

  • Understand how emotions live in the body and how to express them safely

  • Explore the power of breathwork, grounding, and visualization for healing

  • Connect with their “Wise Self” through guided meditation

  • Practice self-compassion techniques such as the Butterfly Hug

  • Leave with a personalized intention word and a practical handout to support ongoing wellbeing

The session is designed to feel restorative, supportive, and empowering — more like a mini-retreat than a traditional workshop.

Who It’s For

This workshop is open to anyone affected by cancer — whether newly diagnosed, in treatment, beyond treatment, a partner, a family member, or a carer. It is suitable for all mobility levels, and no prior experience of meditation or relaxation techniques is needed.

Facilitator

Sarah Hurst is the founder of Rising Above Cancer and creator of the Mind Medicine Movement™. Having faced cancer three times herself, she now helps others navigate fear, reconnect with their inner strength, and find calm through the SIPS™ framework — combining coaching, meditation, breathwork, Touch Therapy, and nervous system regulation.

Sarah offers her work from The Float Spa in Hove, Turn Beautiful in Brighton, her home in Hove, and through online coaching, alongside workshops and bespoke 1:1 and group retreats

Outcomes

Participants will leave feeling:

  • Calmer and more centred in their body

  • Reconnected to their inner wisdom

  • Equipped with practical tools to manage overwhelm

  • Empowered to take gentle, meaningful steps in their healing journey
