Kevin Donaghy, Author of "Stories of Cancer and Hope"

We have the pleasure of sharing some time with Kevin Donaghy who will come along a share his journey of Cancer and how he found hope and comfort in reaching out to others, resulting in this beautiful book being written and published.

“Following my diagnosis and treatment in December 2019 for Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma which is life-limiting and incurable, I felt very alone and scared for my family.

Over two years I met several people who had personally been affected by different types of cancer and the theme of loneliness at the point of diagnosis was universal. I started to gather stories of Cancer and Hope to give these to people in the form of a physical book, either personally or through a member of their family, in the hope they wouldn’t feel alone.

We are all affected by cancer in our lives either directly or indirectly, and the book has 39 stories of cancer and hope. Due to the nature of cancer, there are some stories written on behalf of people we have lost, and there are several cancer types covered in the book.

Due to sponsorship from a number of my clients, I have been able to donate over 6,500 copies to 90 cancer charities, support groups and treatment centres in the UK and Ireland, including WOLO and Maggies who have books in all 24 UK centres.

Thanks to the success of the physical book, I have now published a digital version so anyone affected by cancer can access it, and all profits from the digital version sales will be donated to Maggies.”
