A weeks course for Wolo’s young people 18th - 22th August
Wolo want to inspire YOUR young people to habitually prioritise nature! To embrace our beautiful surroundings and learn the never ending benefits it has to offer in a busy stressful life!
Through weekly sessions, the children connected with nature while learning essential teamwork and survival skills. Activities included flora and fauna identification, conservation, orienteering, nature walks, learning about different environments (rivers, grassland, woodland, farmland, coastal) and making shelters and fires.
This course provided a great opportunity for the children to get outside, have fun, get relief from the burden of cancer and learn valuable life skills. Many of the children we support struggle with their mental health and may feel isolated, sometimes with no school friends in a similar situation.
Through these group activities, they all found comfort and support among peers who understand their challenges. The children developed self-reliance, problem-solving and teamwork skills while spending time outdoors, which is known to improve mental health, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being.
